Curriculum

Francis Reh Public School Academy adopted the Kent County Collaborative Core Curriculum (KC4) in 2001. The curriculum aligns to the Michigan Curriculum Framework standards, benchmarks and grade level content expectations.

The language arts curriculum is organized into five strands: reading, writing, speaking, listening and research. Grade level content expectations are embedded within the lessons, suggested genres and assessments of the academic standards.

The mathematics curriculum is aligned to the new Michigan mathematics grade level content expectations and organized into five strands: number and operations, algebra, measurement, geometry, data and probability.

The science curriculum includes life, earth and physical science strands. The K-8 grade levels include all the strands in an integrated curriculum.

The social studies curriculum includes the strands of history, geography, civics, economics and current events. The curriculum takes the students from the home and school environment as a kindergartner to the wider world view in the upper elementary levels.

The curriculum at Francis Reh includes instruction in:

  • English language arts
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Social studies
  • Character education
  • Physical education
